Grove House is two-phase project that reimagines an existing home and outbuilding through a careful balance of preservation and contemporary intervention. Phase 1 focused on transforming the property’s barn into a more modern, livable structure. A deep navy finish was selected to ground the building and highlight its presence within the landscape, while larger and more strategically placed windows bring in natural light and frame views. These changes update the barn’s character while retaining its role as an anchor on the site.

Phase 2, currently under construction, introduces a new addition that connects directly to the main house, providing an additional bedroom and a basement level below. The addition carries forward the navy palette to create a visual dialogue with the barn, while its refined gable form and orthogonal dormer extension signal a contemporary approach. Inside, the design maximizes space, daylight, and views toward the surrounding landscape, blending functionality with a modern architectural language.

The result is a cohesive residence where old and new volumes speak to one another—honoring the site’s history while creating new possibilities for living.
